[to my students]

Avoid using the word “respectively”.

Avoid giving long lists of things that makes the reader backtrack into the sentence too connect topics and numbers.

Avoid:

The specific discharge capacities of the proton batteries using PS and PS40PA electrolytes increased from 1.2 to 3.6 mAh g-1 at the discharge currents of 10.0 mA, respectively, for both proton batteries increased.

Instead try this:
The specific discharge capacities of the proton batteries using PS (1.2 mAh g-1) and PS40PA electrolytes (3.6 mAh g-1) increased as the discharge currents (10.0 mA) for both proton batteries increased.
